Topics Being Discussed:
Worcester 10 Years Later is a comprehensive look at the organizational transformation of the Worcester Fire Department following the tragic line-of-duty deaths of six firefighters in 1999. Deputy Chief John Sullivan contrasts the recommendations made by the departments own internal review board and those made by NIOSH and then illustrates the training initiatives and institutional changes made following the incident. The lessons learned from this devastating incident and subsequent national safety initiatives are changing the modern fire service into a culture of firefighter safety and survival. This program will challenge the assumptions of tradition and promote a vision for the future.
